Hank (Robert Downey Jr.) is an experienced lawyer who specializes in helping the rich clean up the mess they have caused. In Hank's eyes, there is no so-called justice, only eternal interests. The unexpected death of his mother forced Hank to return to his hometown in Indiana, where he was born, but there were the past events he was most reluctant to recall. In his hometown, Hank met his long-lost father Joseph (Robert Duvall), a stubborn old man who had been a local judge for his entire life. The tense relationship between the father and son did not change at all because of the passage of time. What Hank, who wanted to leave, did not expect was that a traffic accident involved Joseph in a complicated lawsuit, and while he was defending his father, the truth gradually surfaced.
