A mysterious ancient Chinese scroll, because it contains great power, all the evil villains want to get it to rule the world; an unknown monk from Tibet, China (played by Chow Yun-fat), has been living a displaced life to protect the scroll, and he has been hiding in almost every corner of the world. Until one day, the monk felt tired, so he began to look for a suitable person to become his disciple and inherit this arduous task. Street gangster Carl (Seann William Scott) accidentally helped the monk out of trouble. Perhaps it was telepathy, the monk sensed that this gangster was his successor, so he decided to pass on his martial arts to Carl. Carl began his difficult fate to fight against evil.
