Jim Hufkins (Toby Regbo) and his mother (Shirley Henderson) run a small inn in the countryside. One day, the inn receives a panicked and alcoholic pirate sailor Billy (David Harewood), who was once a subordinate of the notorious pirate leader Captain Flint (Donald Sutherland). Flint is cruel and greedy, and holds a map of the treasure map in his hand. After his death, the most loyal Billy seems to have mastered the map, and he has become the target that all pirates are eager to find. Jim finds the treasure map from the dead Billy, and takes a boat with local partners to the Treasure Island filled with countless treasures.
