Robert (Dougray Scott) is a journalist who investigates Joseph Maria (Charlie Cox) in order to write a special report about her life. What Robert didn't expect was that Joseph Maria and his father Maolo (Wes Bentley) were childhood friends, and they even went to the same seminary. The difference in ideals made the two friends who once had a solid friendship go their separate ways. Joseph Maria, who has a firm faith, chooses to dedicate everything to the almighty Lord, but Maolo can't sit idly by and watch the country in misery. He resolutely goes to the battlefield, and the two have no contact since then. After that, Maolo meets the beautiful female warrior Aidi (Olga Kurylenko).
