Stingo (Peter MacNicol), a young writer from the southern United States, came to Brooklyn to make a living and met Sophie (Meryl Streep) and Nathan (Kevin Kline) who lived upstairs. They enthusiastically expressed their hope to make friends with the young writer, and Stingo gladly accepted their invitation. After gradually getting to know each other, they established a close and friendly relationship with each other.
