Description:Florence Foster Jenkins was an American soprano singer in the early 20th century. She was welcomed by the audience for her poor singing skills but excellent entertainment ability. Jenkins was very confident and compared herself with the famous sopranos Frieda Hempel and Luisa Tetrazzini at the time. She did not mind the laughter from the audience during the performance. She had a strict choice of her performance venue, usually in the Ritz-Carlton Ballroom in New York City. The audience of the concert was limited to her loyal members and some invited guests, and she even decided on the ticket owners herself. At the age of 76, Jenkins asked for a performance at Carnegie Hall. People were looking forward to the performance, so the tickets were sold out early.
