Gilman (Fabryce Luchini), a French college literature teacher, assigned a weekly diary to students, asking them to truthfully record what they saw and heard during the weekend. Among the many boring homeworks, Gilman accidentally discovered that the article of 16-year-old boy Claude (Ernst Umhauer) was exceptionally wonderful. Claude is a quiet observer who is used to sitting in the last row of the classroom. His homework is about voyeurism - telling the story of how he sneaked into his friend's house and spied on the other's family life. Gilman was deeply attracted by the lines, and his long-extinguished literary passion was also ignited. He not only decided to tutor the talented Claude alone and encourage him to let go of his creation, but also shared Claude's composition with his wife Jenna (Kristin Scott Thomas). However, adults gradually forget the boundaries between fiction and reality in the process of reading, and they don't even know that their room has been opened for a long time... French genius director François Ozon once amazed the world film industry with the dark and thrilling "Eight Beauties" and "Swimming Pool Murder". After the warm and artistic films such as "5×2" and "Time Stays", the new film "In the House" once again returns to the suspense and thriller genre that Ozon is best at. The film is adapted from the Spanish stage play "The Boy in the Last Row". The director cleverly splices voyeuristic literature with confusing sections of reality, and challenges the forbidden zone of lust and morality with a seemingly real and layered creative story. The film was shortlisted for six French Cesar Awards, won the FIPRESCI Award at the Toronto Film Festival and the Golden Shell Award for Best Film at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain, and was also selected as one of the best European films of the year.
