Betty Suarez (America Ferrera) is an ordinary girl from a Mexican immigrant family. She has thick hair, black-framed glasses, braces, short and fat, and is an unattractive ugly girl. But Betty was born with a good heart, hard work, and unparalleled ambition. After joining the editorial department of the fashion magazine "MODE", which is full of beautiful women, Betty was first ridiculed and teased by her colleagues, especially the receptionist Amanda (Becki Newton) and her good friend Mark (Michael Urie). However, because of her good work level, she was appreciated by the general manager Daniel Meade (Eric Mabius). Betty also quietly developed admiration for this approachable and handsome boss, but she was accidentally involved in the war between Daniel and his mother (Vanessa Williams)... This film is a remake of the popular Colombian TV series of the same name.
