CBS All Access has booked two seasons of the adult animated series "Star Trek: Lower Decks". The animation is written by Mike McMahan, the main writer of "Rick and Morty". The show tells the story of the support crew of a starship of low importance. Jerry O'Connell, Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noel Wells, Eugene Cordero, Fred Tatasciore, Dawnn Lewis, and Gillian Vigman have joined the crew. Jerry O'Connell plays Lieutenant Commander Ransom, Tawny Newsome plays the serious Lieutenant Mariner, and Jack Quaid plays Boimler, who is the opposite of Mariner, which makes them often conflict. Noel Wells's Lieutenant Tendi is a fan of Star Trek and is excited that he can finally board the ship. Eugene Cordero plays Lieutenant Rutherford, who is a very skilled engineer but often fails to solve problems. Fred Tatasciore is Captain Shaxs, Dawnn Lewis is Colonel Freeman, and Gillian Vigman is Dr. T'ana. The 10-episode first season is scheduled to be released in 2020.
