A British plane was shot down by the German army while flying over the Sahara Desert. The pilot was injured and could not remember who he was, so he was called the "English patient". Hannah was a nurse in a field hospital. She decided to stay alone to take care of the British patient. The place where they stayed was an abandoned monastery in Italy, far away from the hustle and bustle of the war, and it seemed quiet and leisurely. The "English patient" lay quietly on the wooden bed in the room. An old book on the window gradually aroused his thoughts... A love, burning in the flames of war, transcended morality and changed the situation of the war. Archaeologist Earl Amash (played by Ralph Fiennes) followed the explorer to the Sahara Desert for an investigation and met the pilot Jeff who drew the map and his wife Catherine (played by Kristin Scott Thomas). Catherine's talent and beauty deeply fascinated Amash. When the two visited the murals in a deep cave in the desert, they found that they had similar interests. Morality eventually defeated passion. After Catherine and Amash broke up, Jeff discovered his wife's affair. Heartbroken Jeff tried to die with his wife and Amash in a plane. Amash was lucky to escape, but Catherine was seriously injured and he died. Amash rushed to the side of his beloved, put her in a cave, and promised to get out of the desert and find help. However, things were not as easy as imagined. In order to save people, he took the charge of treason and caused a disaster. In the end, he did not break his promise, but Catherine had left him forever in the cold...Amash put Catherine's body on the plane, which was shot down by the German army when flying over the Sahara Desert, and the scene at the beginning of the film happened. During the days of taking care of the "English patient", Hannah met the Indian bomb disposal expert Kip, and the two fell in love with each other. Even though the war is over, bomb disposal expert Kip will inevitably face death countless times. In the end, at the request of the British patient, Hannah injected him with a large dose of morphine...
