Adapted from the best-selling novel of the same name by Madeleine St John, it is set in Sydney in the summer of 1959, against the backdrop of Australia's cultural awakening, the disintegration of class structure and women's liberation, telling the story of suburban female student Lisa's growth. While waiting for the results of the college entrance examination and dreaming of going to Sydney University, Lisa worked in a large department store as a summer intern, working side by side with a group of female salespeople, during which time her horizons were opened and she underwent a transformation.
