Pat (Bradley Cooper), a cheerful and optimistic middle school teacher, was sent to the hospital for psychiatric treatment by his parents after he went home and saw his wife cheating on him. After being discharged from the hospital, Pat returned to his parents' home to live with them. Under the excessive care of his father (Robert DeNiro) and mother (Jacki Weaver), he felt depressed. At a party, Pat met Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), a young woman who had just lost her husband and job. Tiffany, who was full of thorns, confronted Pat everywhere, which made Pat avoid her at first. But as the two got in touch, Pat gradually discovered Tiffany's moving points, and Tiffany also discovered Pat's indelible optimism. Tiffany asked Pat to practice dancing with her to participate in the competition, and the relationship between the two began to improve in a positive direction. In the dance competition, Pat finally found the love of his life, and his life with Tiffany also cleared the clouds and saw the sun again. Jennifer Lawrence won the 70th Golden Globe Award for Best Actress and the 85th Academy Award for Best Actress.
