The society once dominated by humans has now become the world of vampires, and the remaining humans are kept in captivity and become machines for making fresh blood. The number of humans is decreasing, and vampires must research blood substitutes, otherwise they will face more terrifying mutations. Edward Dalton (Ethan Hawke) is the chief blood expert who specializes in new substitutes. His boss, Charles Bromley, is an ambitious man who is very satisfied with the current status of the vampire world and attempts to make huge profits by monopolizing new substitutes. By chance, Edward met Audrey Bennett (Claudia Kavan), a human on the run, and helped her get rid of the pursuit. Unexpectedly, Audrey came to the door afterwards and brought Ives, who miraculously turned from a vampire into a human in an accident. The only remaining human needs the help of a vampire they can trust... In this film, the Spierig brothers (Peter Spierig & Michael Spierig) transformed the previous vampire genre films and incorporated science fiction elements to create a new story atmosphere.
