Description:It is the late Edo period. The Akashi clan's Edo family elder Mamiya Tomo (Uchino Seiyo) commits suicide in front of the house of the shogun's elder councilor Doi Daichito (Hira Mikijiro), which shocks the court and the public. Everything started with Akashi clan lord Saisho (Inagaki Goro). Saisho is the half-brother of the current general. He is bloodthirsty and tyrannical, which has caused dissatisfaction among many people in the court. However, Saisho has been designated as the next elder councilor. In order to prevent the people from being harmed by him, Doi instructs Shimada Shinsakuemon (Yakusho Hiroji) to assassinate Saisho on his way back to the clan. Shinzaemon summoned 13 assassins including Kuranaga Saheita (played by Hiroki Matsukata), Mihashi Gunjiro (played by Kazuki Sawamura), and Hirayama Kyujuro (played by Tsuyoshi Ihara), and set up ambushes in the places where Qi Zhao must pass... This film is a remake of Kudo Eiichi's 1963 film of the same name.
