In 1948, in Northeast China, the remnants of the Kuomintang planned to blow up the Anshan Iron and Steel Plant while evacuating. In a critical moment, the "combat hero" Zhao Tiechi (played by Liu Ye) led the Communist troops straight into the hinterland, fought desperately, and destroyed the enemy's conspiracy. Zhao Tiechi transformed into a "steel warrior" and joined engineer Sun Xuefei (played by Han Xue), veteran worker Meng Tai (played by Lin Yongjian), and general manager Cheng Shixun (played by Zhang Guoqiang) to resume work and production. However, the blast furnace has become a lump of iron, the factory area is like a ruin, experts are unanimously pessimistic, spies are secretly observing, the situation on the front line is tense, and time is running out...
