Vera Phillips (Keira Knightley) and Caitlin Thomas (Sienna Miller) build a deep friendship in the fall of love for the talented poet Dylan Thomas (Matthew Rhys). On the one hand, Vera is Thomas's childhood sweetheart soul friend. She first met Thomas but eventually married the officer William Crick (Cillian Murphy) because of Thomas's inability to be loyal.
