The film tells the story of the First World War, when the dictator of the Kingdom of Tomania, Singer (played by Charlie Chaplin), came to power. His wanton expansion led to constant wars and misery. He also engaged in conspiracy policies, inciting the people's hostility and hatred towards the Jews, and plunged the Jewish people into a disaster. Charlie (played by Charlie Chaplin), a Jewish barber who was conscripted into the army, could not escape under such a high-pressure policy. When Charlie escaped across the border, he was mistaken for the dictator Singer by the troops stationed here. He took the opportunity to make a big speech "Fight for Freedom". This film is Charlie Chaplin's first sound film, shot during the darkest period of Hitler's rule. The film is full of sharp satires and vilifications of him. This film won five nominations for the 13th (1941) Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Screenplay, and Best Music.
