In the early 1990s, Chang Gaoxing, a boy from northern Shaanxi, failed the college entrance examination. As a member of the Beijing Drift, Chang Gaoxing went through untold hardships to realize his dream, met all kinds of Beijing girls with different personalities, received help and had misunderstandings that could not be relieved, and tasted the ups and downs of life for work. But he did not give up, and twenty years passed in a blink of an eye. During this period, Chang Gaoxing's struggle history traversed China's twenty years of changes, showing the differences and integration between Beijingers and outsiders. In the end, Chang Gaoxing and Li Sasa finally got what they wanted after all the hard work. Chang Gaoxing also realized that it doesn't matter where the girl comes from.
