Rose (Naomi Watts) is a talented painter. Although she owns a million dollars worth of land, she still chooses to live a wandering life without food and shelter. Such a woman married a man named Rex (Woody Harrelson), who is even more outrageous than Rose. He is an idealist who never leaves his bottle of wine. The two gave birth to four children, Janet (Brie Larson), Lori (Sarah Snook), Bran (Josh Barclay Caras) and Maureen (Brigette Lundy-Paine). Although this pair of parents is very unreliable, the four children grew up in such a free family atmosphere and enjoyed a happy childhood.
