"Mom, Don't Cry" is another Korean realist masterpiece after "The Crucible", and was shortlisted for the Broad Mirror Unit of the 17th Busan Film Festival. This film is adapted from the cruel story of "a mother who learned that her daughter committed suicide because she was raped by male students and avenged her daughter personally". Liu Lin (played by Liu Shan), who had just divorced her husband and was ready to start again, originally planned to start again with her only daughter Liu Yinya (played by Nan Baola), who had just been promoted to high school student, after bidding farewell to her unhappy marriage. The two lived a simple and peaceful life relying on each other. But misfortune fell from the sky, and Yinya chose to commit suicide on her birthday, which also destroyed Liu Lin's last spiritual support. One day, she learned the truth about her daughter's tragic death through Yinya's classmate Zhao Han (played by Shen Donghao): she was raped by many male classmates at school, but the perpetrators were exempted from punishment because of their status as minors. Yinya, who could not bear this result, chose to commit suicide. Since then, Liu Lin has suffered an unprecedented blow. She no longer believes in the law and decides to help her daughter avenge this revenge by herself no matter what method, and drives her step by step towards an irreversible ending...
