Introduction

Yamaoka Momosuke (voiced by Junyan Guan), who was originally the young master of Ikoma-ya, gave up his ancestral business because he was fascinated by strange stories and became a wandering writer, collecting various strange stories to write "One Hundred Tales of the Alley". On a rainy night, he met a mysterious trio: Mr. Mataichi, a master of deception (voiced by Takashi Nakao), Ms. Gin, a puppeteer who is good at manipulating dolls (voiced by Sanae Kobayashi), and Mr. Chang Er, a mimic master who is good at bird delivery (voiced by Norio Wakamoto). Their whereabouts are erratic, appearing and disappearing at any time, and where they appear, there are often mysterious and strange supernatural events. By chance, Momosuke followed them into the dark world and witnessed a series of strange events. And these strange stories also provided him with material for writing "One Hundred Tales". In the various events that Momosuke experienced, the ghosts in them are often transformed from the distorted human nature in daily life. The trio used their unique methods to expose those human sins to people.
