Thomas Lee Tsz-yung (Lam Po-yee/Chan Kin-long) was born in poverty. When he was young, he worked hard to earn money for his mother's (Cheung Wai-yee) medical expenses. He met Sammy Fong Siu-wai (Chow Ka-yee/Tan Sheen-yen), a girl working in a tea restaurant, and they became good friends.
