Julie Walters, "Mrs. Bird" from "Paddington Bear", and Clarke Peters, "Alonzo" from "Person of Interest", will co-star in the six-episode TV series "True Love" written by Charlie Covell, the creator of "The F*ck of the World", and Iain Weatherby from "Real Humans". As both the leading actors are over 70 years old (and the other co-stars are basically over 60), Channel 4 said that it hopes to break the rules of the old characters on the screen through this unique, poignant and somewhat dark style of the show, and will also use fascinating plot twists, irreverent humor and passionate romance to "fire" at age discrimination in this subversive story. In the play, Julie plays "Phil", who retired from the position of police chief and began to live her comfortable but boring old age; "Ken" (played by Clarke) who has the same feeling as her is now divorced and used to be a secret agent. The two people who knew each other when they were young have never forgotten each other. One day, at a friend's funeral, Phil, Ken and a group of old friends reunited. In the atmosphere of nostalgia and drinking, they began to think deeply about life; they discussed what is the "ideal" departure, and reached an agreement with each other: instead of accepting the slow and terrible decline of age, it is better to plan a dignified death. Others participating in the show include: "Miss Denker" Sue Johnston from "Downton Abbey", "Victor" Phil Davis from "Try", "Martin" Peter Egan from "Unforgotten", "Reg" Karl Johnson from "My Mom", "Rose" Fiona Button from "Family Divided" and "Shereen" Kiran Sonia Sawar from "Pure". Julie said that she had basically decided to retire from the entertainment industry because there were no attractive projects, but she was shocked by the writing of this drama. It is set against the background of those of us who are already in our old age, with black humor, love stories and thriller elements. She also likes the smart, funny and sharp personality of the heroine "Phil". At my age, how many opportunities can I play the heroine? This makes me eager to work with Channel 4. Clarke also added that Charlie and Iain's script explores the moral dilemma of "whether to help the loved one end his life the way he wants" in a way he has never seen before. It is interesting, dark and full of suspense.
