The new Diary of a Wimpy Kid has a brand new cast, with Jason Ian Drucker playing the male lead "Greg" and Owen Asztalos playing his best friend "Rowley". David Bowers, who directed Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2 and 3, will continue to be the director of the new version. The new version of "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" is adapted from the book "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul". It tells the story of Greg, who persuaded his family to drive to his grandmother's house under the pretext of celebrating his grandmother's 90th birthday in order to attend a game player conference held near his grandmother's house.
