"The Defenders" (English: Marvel's The Defenders, or simply: The Defenders) is a network mini-series based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name that Netflix is planning to launch in the United States. It was developed by Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez. The series is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is connected to the plot of the Marvel Cinematic Universe series of movies. It is the climax of the Marvel Cinematic Universe TV series. The mini-series is co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios, and Ramirez is responsible for overall planning. The story takes place a few months after the second season of "Daredevil" and a month after the story of "Iron Fist". Vigilantes living in various parts of New York - Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist - begin to unite to form a superhero team to fight against the oncoming evil forces of the Hand.
