Alan (Zach Galifianakis) is 42 years old, but still lives with his parents. One day, his father was "finally" pissed off by him. Alan's best friends Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms) and Doug (Justin Bartha) decided to take Alan to a place in Arizona for psychological treatment. The four were accidentally hijacked by a man named Marshall on the way. It turned out that all this was caused by Leslie Chow (Ken Jeong). Chow escaped from a prison in Bangkok and robbed Marshall of half of the 42 million gold. In order to find Chow, Marshall left Doug behind and asked the other three to bring Chow back. Alan has been in contact with Chow, and the three of them soon met Chow. In order to save Doug, Chow decided to take the three of them back to their original home to retrieve the 21 million gold. Seeing that the four of them finally got the gold after going through hardships, Chow locked the three of them in the basement and left with the gold alone. Can they save Doug? What kind of adventure will these four people experience?
