Human technology has been able to extract from the brains of dead people the images they saw when they were alive, thus solving various unsolved cases. The government agency in charge of this work is commonly known as the Ninth, and its full name is the Ninth Forensic Laboratory of the Scientific Police Research Institute. This agency is highly confidential, and because it involves private life and ethical issues, it is not officially recognized even within the police. Aoki, a researcher assigned to work here, and the head of the Ninth Laboratory, Xing Gang, search for clues from the victims' memories before their death and trace the truth of various incidents. However, facing the secrets of the dead brings cruelty beyond imagination.
