Brian Kinney is the sexiest beast on Liberty Avenue. He loves sex and life is a never-ending pursuit of lust. His best friend, Michael Novotny, has been secretly in love with him for years, but he knows best: no one in the world can have Brian. Michael and Brian met in the summer of 1985, when they were 14 years old. Brian was a bully that everyone feared, and Michael was a kind ambassador welcomed by every family. After they agreed that the Green Hornet was cooler than Spider-Man and the X-Men were super cool, they immediately fell in love with each other. As for the People magazine with a photo of Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing... "You said you think Patrick Swayze is hot?" This may be the prelude to the unprecedented unfinished teenage sex music - thanks to Michael's mother, the busybody who suddenly opened the door and scared all three of them. They never "finished" the past, but they have been best friends ever since. Justin Taylor is a 17-year-old high school boy who has tasted the forbidden fruit for the first time. He gave his first sex and love to Brian. He is so in love with Brian that he can't help himself. He wrestles with Brian's will with amazing perseverance. Although he is young, he knows what he wants and must get it. Brian and Michael's friends also include Emmett Honeycutt and Ted Schmidt. The former is a sissy gay who likes to dress up, and the latter is a gay who has been secretly in love with Michael for a long time and has the least confidence. Art teacher Lindsay Peterson and lawyer Melanie Marcus are a lesbian couple. Brian is the sperm donor of their son Gus. Melanie and Brian became sworn enemies on the day Gus was born. Michael's mother Debbie Novotny is everyone's support. She is enthusiastic and cheerful. Not only does she fully accept her son's sexual orientation, but she has also taken care of her gay brother who has AIDS for many years. She is also the hostess of a gay restaurant on Liberty Avenue, entertaining gays coming and going and supporting them with actions. When Michael dragged his junior high school classmate Brian home, it was the first time Debbie saw him. She knew right away that Brian would be trouble...but she also knew he was a good kid who genuinely cared about Michael. It wasn't long before she discovered that Brian was a gay teenager struggling with his sexuality, just like her son, and she had a hunch that this tall, strong boy would protect Michael, but one day he might also break his heart.
