The story takes place in the early 20th century. The second son of the Akiyama family in Fukui, Atsuzo (Takeru Sato), was not an enviable lawyer like his brother (Ryohei Suzuki). He had many ideas, but he did nothing for a long time, which made his father, Tetsuro (Tetta Sugimoto). He finally found a son-in-law for him. At first, Atsuzo was hardworking and had a good relationship with his wife Toshiko (Hana Kuroki). Finally, he was dissatisfied with his ordinary and boring life. He followed the army's Sergeant Tanabe (Hideaki Ito) to learn cooking, and even broke with his father-in-law and ran to Tokyo to learn cooking.
