The Season 8 premiere takes place eight weeks after the avalanche at the Fortress of Solitude in the Arctic. LutherCorp has discovered Lex's whereabouts. Meanwhile, members of the Justice League, including Green Arrow, Black Canary and Aquaman, have teamed up again to search for Clark, who lost his powers when the castle collapsed. As the series progresses, Clark's new job at Daily Planet is accompanied by Lois. The two will team up to keep the peace in Metropolis. At times, Lois becomes Clark's biggest obstacle, especially when he is between life and death. Clark and Lois work closely together, and the sparks that fly when they are surprised by both of them. At the same time, Clark begins to find that he must control the balance to cover his dual identity as a reporter and a superhero. Even with Lex's death, the Luthor Mansion is not empty. The latest resident is the con man Tess Mercer, who, at Lex's command, begins to take over control of LuthorCorp and all of its projects, including the Daily Planet survey. Tess is an inexplicably cunning presence who mysteriously appears in our characters' lives. It doesn't take long for Tess's attention to turn to Clark. But Clark is aware of her intentions, and is already familiar with her past and new mysteries. But Tess's determination remains rock-hard to find Lex Luthor, who she believes is still alive.
