HBO confirms it will film a "COVID-19 Special" for Euphoria to bridge the gap between seasons. The HBO series Euphoria won three Emmys this year, including the Best Actress in a Drama Series for Zendaya, making her the youngest winner of the award ever. After the Emmys, it will be a long wait for the second season. The eight-episode first season ended in April 2019, and it seems that the next season will not be broadcast until 2021 or even 2022. Casey Bloys, president of HBO, confirmed that the second season is scheduled to start filming in early 2021, and the third season will start filming in the fall of 2021. Director Sam Levinson and the actors were ready to shoot the second season in March, but it happened to be stalled by the epidemic. According to the current plan, there will be a break between the two seasons for at least two years. Bloys confirmed that in order to help fans pass the time between the two seasons, HBO will launch a COVID-19 special for Euphoria. The HBO president did not reveal more details, but Zendaya revealed in August that the crew was considering using a special episode to connect the two seasons. "We may end up shooting a bridge episode," Zendaya said. "I don't know how to describe it, but we can perform this episode in a safe environment with a limited number of people so that we have space before entering the second season."
