Ethan (Tom Cruise) was a secret agent working in a special department. Since a beautiful woman named Julia (Michelle Monaghan) appeared in his life, Ethan decided to retire. Unfortunately, the good times did not last long. Before long, Ethan received news that his apprentice Lindsay (Keri Russell) was kidnapped by his nemesis David (Philip Seymour Hoffman). David was cold and cruel, and it was very dangerous for Lindsay to fall into his hands. In order to rescue Lindsay, Ethan returned to his old business.
