During the Vietnam War, the US military recruited a large number of soldiers. A large number of young people enlisted in the army and received "brutal" training in the boot camp. "Fool" Bill's motor nerves were not well developed, and he often made mistakes and implicated everyone. "Joker" (Matthew Modine) was ordered to help Bill, but Bill still made mistakes and implicated others. Everyone couldn't bear it anymore and beat him up. Bill became mentally confused from then on. He shot his instructor and committed suicide before graduating from the boot camp. "Joker" was then assigned to the military news group. During the interview, he saw that his companions at the time had become numb and cruel.
