The drama is adapted from the classic noir novel of the same name and stars Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet. The story takes place during the Great Depression in the United States. The heroine Mildred Pierce Beragon broke up with her unemployed husband Bert (Brian F. O'Byrne) and made a living by working as a waitress. On the one hand, she wants to maintain her social status, and on the other hand, she longs for independence and freedom. While busy with life, she has to do everything she can to win the love and respect of her daughter Veda (Evan Rachel Wood). Guy Pearce plays Mildred's lover, a wealthy playboy. James Le Gros plays Bert's former business partner. Melissa Leo plays Mildred's friend. Morgan Turner plays Vada in childhood.
