The protagonist of the new CBS police drama "Flashpoint" is a special force affiliated with the Toronto Police Department in Canada. The name of this force is the Strategic Response Unit (Strategic Response Unit), or SRU for short. The prototype of the SRU character comes from a real emergency task response team (Emergency Task Force) in Toronto. The members of SRU are not ordinary policemen. They have the ability to do things that ordinary policemen cannot do, including: "saving hostages, fighting gangs, dismantling bombs, and operating cutting-edge weapons." They will always risk their lives to save other people's lives. They often use any means to solve problems and save lives in a very short time. To become a member of the SRU, you must first have many years of experience in fighting criminals on the streets, and you must also undergo intense physical training and shooting training. In addition, SRU members must also have the ability to operate cutting-edge weapons, including: "sniper rifles, snake-shaped camera equipment, robots, flash bombs, night vision goggles and Tasers." But the most important weapon is everyone's perception and experience, and the skills needed to cope with various crises. "Flashpoint" was first produced by Canadian TV station CTV, and then CBS joined the co-production. The show was written by members of the Writers Guild of Canada (WGC), so it was not affected by the WGA writers' strike in the United States. Flashpoint is also the first TV series that was completely produced and filmed in Canada and broadcast on a major American TV network. The star of the show is Enrico Colantoni, the detective father in Veronica Mars, who plays the team leader Sergeant Greg Parker. Other actors include Hugh Dillon as Ed Lane, David Paetkau as Sam Braddock, and Amy Jo Johnson (Felicity) as Jules Callahan. The first season of Flashpoint was aired in the summer of 2008. Although S1 only aired 9 of the originally planned 13 episodes due to scheduling issues, it has already gained a certain audience and has become a new series with great potential. In the winter of 2009, with the remaining 4 episodes of S1, the first batch of 13 episodes scheduled, and CBS's additional booking, Flashpoint will return with 22 episodes in the second season.
