In the United States in the 1950s, Teres (Rooney Mara), a young woman, worked as a salesperson in a New York department store, but she yearned for the work of a photographer. One day, a beautiful and elegant blond lady Carol (Cate Blanchett) came to a department store to buy Christmas gifts, and she met Teres at first sight. After the two met, Teres learned that Carol had a daughter, and she was divorcing her husband Haji (Kyle Chandler).
