Introduction

Genius physicist Yukawa Manabu (Fukuyama Masaharu) is entrusted by Utsumi Kaoru (Shibasaki Yuki) to investigate an incredible murder case. The victim, Togashi Shinji, was found dead by the river, with his face and fingerprints destroyed. The biggest suspect is his ex-wife Hanaoka Seiko (Matsuyuki Yasuko), but Seiko has a perfect alibi. Can a person appear in different places at the same time? When Yukawa discovered that the person living next door to Seiko was his college classmate, fellow genius mathematician Ishigami Tetsuya (Tsutsumi Shinichi), he became interested. After graduation, Ishigami, who had to take care of his parents instead of staying in school, went to high school to teach mathematics and lived a miserable life, used a public telephone every night to teach Seiko how to deal with police investigations. Seiko gradually felt constrained, but because the confession given was not suspicious, the police decided to give up the investigation of Seiko. At this time, Yukawa pointed out that Ishigami was the key figure. What is the truth of the case? Is there really a person in the world who appears in two places at the same time? This film is adapted from the 2006 Naoki Prize-winning work of the popular Japanese mystery novelist Keigo Higashino.
