The series has a similar tone to HBO's Succession. Set between New York and London, it focuses on a black British family, their ambitions, and their response to misfortune. Self-made Stephen Richards built a beauty empire and always got what he wanted, turning everything he did into gold, even abandoning his first wife and two children, Nina and Simon, was a good thing for him. Stephen settled down with his younger second wife Claudia and had three more children: Alesha, Gus and Wanda, while Nina and Simon built successful careers in New York as adults. But when Stephen suffers a stroke, his two worlds begin to collide, secrets and lies come to light, and the future of his business empire is at stake.
