As the evil forces spread wantonly, a group of righteous people with super strength stepped forward. They wore masks and strange costumes to compete with various villains. Soon, their heroic deeds spread across the country through the media. The names of superheroes such as Dollar Bill, Silk Ghost, Rorschach, and City Captain were widely spread. They participated in major events of all sizes and suffered different fates because of their own personalities. However, in the 1970s, the government issued a decree that led to the retirement of some heroes who did not want to become minions of the powerful, and the superhero group was divided. One day in 1985, Edward Blake (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), a superhero "comedian" who served the government, was killed.
