After the popular stockbroker Fong Chun-sun (Damian Lau) was killed by his friend Ding Hai (Adam Cheng), who he had known for decades, his four children were raised by his second wife, Luo Huiling (Lam Kit-ying). The eldest son, Fong Chin-po (Lau Ching-wan), was confused about his career and was taught by his old friend Yip Tin (Law Lok-lam) to inherit his father's business. When Fong Chin-po learned that Ding Hai, who was imprisoned in Taiwan, had escaped back to Hong Kong, he vowed to avenge his father and eventually put him back in prison. However, he also offended his sons Ding Xiaohai (Shaw Chung-heng) and Ding Yihai (Tao Dayu), who had a huge triad background, and the whole family except him died at the hands of this group. Ding Hai was released on parole early and entered the stock market. Unexpectedly, his career was smooth sailing.
