During the Southern Song Dynasty, there lived a crazy monk in Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou. He was called Jigong and was said to be the reincarnation of Luohan. His original surname was Li, and his ancestor was the son-in-law of Emperor Taizong of Song. Jigong became a monk at the age of 27. He did not give up drinking and eating meat, and his clothes were torn. Those who did not know him all said that he was crazy, but they did not know that he was actually a great monk. Jigong helped the poor and the needy, punished the strong and the bullies, and often used some humorous little magic to teach those treacherous bullies who oppressed the people and exploited the villagers. The wicked hated and feared him, while the people loved Master Jigong. In 1988, the TV series "Jigong" became popular all over the country, and the theme song "The shoes are torn, the hat is torn, the cassock on the body is torn..." was widely sung. In 1998, the 20-episode TV series "The Travels of Jigong" jointly produced by Beijing Benchang Culture and Art Communication Center, Gree Electric Appliances, Zhejiang Cable TV, and Beijing Guoan Advertising Corporation was completed.
