This year's Christmas special is named "The Return Of Doctor Mysterio". The show will introduce the concept of "modern superheroes" for the first time, probably to pay tribute to comic book superheroes. In this special episode, the doctor comes to New York to work with an investigative reporter (Charity Wakefield) and a masked superhero to help New York resist the deadly threat of aliens. Justin Chatwin plays the superhero Grant (this image is derived from Superman/Clark Kent), Matt Lucas plays Nardole again, Adetomiwa Edun, Aleksandar Jovanovic and Logan Hoffman participate in the performance. Bill (Pearl Mackie), the new doctor's partner in the next season, will officially debut in this episode. She is a strong-willed young man, very smart, a little fragile, and half a geek.
