The sequel to "Prison on Fire", veteran prisoner Ah Zheng (played by Chow Yun-fat) has his sentence extended because of a feud with the former section chief (played by Cheung Yao-yang). During his imprisonment, his mother died of illness, his son Liangzai was sent to an orphanage and even resented his father. Ah Zheng wanted to apply for a visit to his son, but was made difficult by the prison guard chief "Ghost" (played by Elvis Tsui). "Ghost" saw Daquanlong (played by Chan Song-yung), the leader of the mainland gang in prison, as a thorn in his side because of his failure to bribe him, and instigated and provoked a rift between the mainland gang and Ah Zheng. A frame-up forced Daquanlong to flee, and Ah Zheng, who was misunderstood as framing Daquanlong, was also forced to flee. During the escape, the two met and developed a "brother-in-distress" friendship. In the end, Ah Zheng was caught back in prison, and in the riot, Ah Zheng finally got the opportunity to fight "Ghost" in person.
