Young Che Wenjie (Andy Lau) meets Cheng Le'er (Rosamund Kwan), the daughter of a company boss. With the help of Le'er's friend Banana (Chingmy Yau), the two quickly fall in love. After learning about the situation, Le'er's ex-boyfriend Jin Moji (Li Zixiong) immediately becomes hostile to Che Wenjie and hires a trickster Gu Jing (Stephen Chow) to play tricks on Che Wenjie, leaving him with nothing. So Gu Jing pretends to be the illegitimate son of Che Wenjie's father Che Qinren (Ng Man-tat) from the mainland to mess things up. Gu Jing's arrival disrupts Che Wenjie's life, and everything seems to be under Gu Jing's control. But Banana discovers Gu Jing's true identity and persuades Gu Jing to consider the care of the Che family father and son for him and turn around to help Che Wenjie deal with Jin Moji.
