The Mentalist stars Golden Globe-nominated Simon Baker as Patrick Jane, an independent consultant with the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI) whose observational skills have helped him solve several major crimes. But within the bureau, Jan is notorious for his reckless ways and his past as a celebrity psychic. Of course, he now admits that his powers are all fake. While Jane's role in solving a series of difficult and high-impact cases has been highly praised by his colleagues, no-nonsense senior detective Teresa Lisbon doesn't want him on her team at all, and she makes no secret of it. Despite this, she has to admit that he does help solve the cases, but she still bombards him with his showmanship, narcissism and dangerous lack of restraint. Lisbon's team, including detectives Kimball Cho, Wayne Rigsby and rookie Grace Van Pelt, all think Jane is a horse without reins that endangers the team, but at the same time they all admire his charm and ability to handle cases.
