Introduction

Spanning nearly 200 years and continuing through three generations, Lehman Brothers Trilogy tells the legendary epic of Lehman Brothers, a family business that changed the world. On a cold September morning in 1844, a young man from Bavaria stood on the dock in New York, dreaming of a new life in the new world. His two brothers joined him, and a history of American struggle began. 163 years later, the company they founded went bankrupt and triggered the worst financial crisis in history... The original work was written by Italian Stefano Masini, translated into 11 languages and staged in many European countries. The English version of Lehman Brothers Trilogy is directed by Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes (films American Beauty, Skyfall, dramas King Lear and The Ferryman), and the script was translated and adapted by Ben Power, co-artistic director of the National Theatre of England. Three British acting representatives - two-time Olivier Award winner Simon Russell Beale, Tony Award-nominated actors Ben Miles and Adam Godley play all the roles on the stage. As a well-received new play that sold out early at the National Theatre of the United Kingdom in 2018, the play moved to the West End in 2019 and continued to be a hot box office. It was nominated for five awards including the Oliver Awards for Best New Play and Best Actor in a Play. The Guardian gave it five stars and praised it as "an unparalleled night, textbook acting." The Times, which also gave it five stars, fully affirmed the arrangement of director Sam Mendes, which delivered "the best form of drama."
