The story takes place 20 years after the Battle of Shipwreck Bay in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. The boy Henry (Brenton Thwaites) sets sail with the British Navy to find his father, Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), who is cursed by the Dead Souls Chest, but encounters the unsealed ghost Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem) in the Bermuda Triangle. Salazar, who has gained freedom, slaughters all the Caribbean pirates, conquers the entire sea area, and kills the Caspian Sea pirate king Captain Hector Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) who killed Edward Teach (Ian McShane), the "Blackbeard". He learns about Salazar's true purpose from the witch Haifaa Meni (Golshifteh Farahani): to find his nemesis Captain Jack (Johnny Depp). The fate of the pirates depends on the Black Pearl, which is sealed by the down-and-out old Jack, and the ancient trident in the mouth of astronomer Carina Smith (Kaya Scodelario).
