The story takes place in 2045, when virtual reality technology has penetrated every corner of human life. James Halliday (Mark Rylance) built a virtual reality game world called "Oasis". Before his death, he announced that he had set an Easter egg in the game, and the person who found this Easter egg would become the heir of Oasis. To find this Easter egg, you must first obtain three keys, and the clues to finding the keys are hidden in James' past. Wade (Tye Sheridan), Aitch (Lena Waithe), Dadong (Mori Saki Wen) and Xiu (Zhao Jiazheng) are friends in the game. Together with Artemis (Olivia Cooke) who met later, the five embarked on a journey to find the Easter egg. What they have to fight against is a big capitalist named Nolan Sorrento (Ben Mendelsohn).
