The CW version is based on the 1990 French film "Lady Nikita", the 1993 American remake "Nikita: Never Go Back" and the 1997 American-Canadian co-produced TV series "Lady Nikita". Nikita (Maggie Q) was sent to a women's prison for killing a police officer while robbing a store. She was later rescued by a secret government organization codenamed "Division". The organization forged Nikita's death certificate and gave her the opportunity to start a new life - training her to be a spy and top killer and let her be loyal to her country. But after the organization killed her lover, she saw the truth and escaped from the organization. After hiding for three years, she re-emerged and decided to expose the conspiracy and secrets of the organization at all costs. On the other hand, she planted an insider Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca) to go undercover in the organization. Michael (Shane West) is the leader of the team that hunts down Nikita, but he has a sympathetic relationship with her...
