Austrian poet Ingeborg Bachmann fell in love with Swiss literary giant Max Frisch but broke up. Broken by love, she embarked on a journey to the desert to escape from the world. Through the cross-narration of the stories between Bachmann and Frisch, German composer Hans Henze, and Austrian playwright Adolf Opper, the film depicts the poet's female self-awakening process from "broken by love" to "pursuing independent will." Director Margarethe von Trotta, who won the Golden Lion Award at the Venice Film Festival with "German Sisters," once again showed Bachmann's more real and diverse image behind the public halo with her meticulous observation of female characters. Shortlisted for the main competition unit of the 2023 Berlin Film Festival.
